Alones had the most fitting animation out of any OP I have seen this year, but the song, at least the full version, just didn't stick with me as much as the other did, but it deserves an honorable mention. Sora Iro is probably a popular choice considering Gurren Lagann's popularity, and who can blame it? It is a great songs that is not only properly edited, but pumps you with all the adrenalin you need for the episode itself. The piano keys at the beginning and seeing the Exia descending to earth is one of the most memorable things I remember from last year's OP.Ī close 2nd is probably either Sora Iro Days and Alone. For one, it's darker than what L'arc is usually known for, which is perfect for the serious mood of 00. Shijou Saikou no Deshi Kenichi OP1 - Be Strong by Kana Yasumiĭespite the fact I am a fan of L'arc~en~ciel, the song surprised me in many ways. Gurren Lagann OP - Sora Iro Days by Nakagawa Shouko Gundam 00 OP1 - Daybreak's Bell by L'arc~en~ciel Bleach OP7 - After Dark by Asian Kung Fu Generation The more episodes an OP has been around, the harder it is for it to win in the category, because no one likes the hear the same song 30 times, but then again, it makes it more of an impressive win if a song does so. Another factor taken in consideration is the episode length. The song not only have to be good, but the animation should be complimentary as well.

The best opening award is as simple as it sounds. Remember, this is MY opinion alone, so don't criticize me for choosing one song over the other and afterwards you can choose your favorites as well. However, "Distance", 2nd of Naruto Shippuuden is not because the single is out in 2008.įor those who don't know the songs, just click on the links. The single of the OP or ED should have been released in 2007įor example, Bleach's 5th OP, "Rolling Star" was released in 1.17.07 so it's eligible. There is only one major guideline the awards follow: This is the first time I am actually putting the award show for public display, but here is it.
